On this page I document all the Sinclair ZX Spectrum interfaces I have
Back in the days of the original 16/48K ZX Spectrums if you wanted to play games and also use a joystick, you needed an interface hanging out the back of the Spectrum, several different types were available with the Kempston version being the most popular.
Of course Sinclair sold their own version, the Interface Two, which was not compatible with Kempston version and actually provided two ports mapped to keys 1 - 5 for port one and 6 - 0 for port two
You also had the option of the Fuller and Cursor interfaces, cursor interfaces mapped to the Spectrums cursor keys (5 - 9), but Kempston was the most popular
All the joystick interfaces above would use normal Atari standard joysticks
However the later Amstrad produced Spectrums had two built-in joystick ports which were wired differently to the normal Atari standard, because Amstrad. Although simple inexpensive adaptors were available
Do you remember choosing between, Keyboard, Kempston, Cursor, and Sinclair on the title screen?
Datel Electronics
I believe this is a Kempston interface, there was another version of this interface that had a switch so the user could choose Kempston, Sinclair, and Cursor standards
Protek
This is a Cursor interface
Kempston
The original and most popular of the interfaces
ZX Interface Two
The official Sinclair interface which supported two joysticks
Powerplay
The label on this interface suggests it's a cursor interface, I like the fact it refers to the Spectrum 48/2X, I wonder what the 2X was?
