I have found another Prinztronic Pong console, this is one of the many PC-50x clones which were an evolution of the original Pong console
This was released in 1980 in the UK. The PC-50x range was a sort of standard where the consoles had a feature set that included being able to support up to 10 games on a cartridge, controllers that had a "fire" button, and three game option switches which could be controlled by the game.
The actual game is in, and runs from the cartridge, and the console itself was just a way of connecting the cartridge to the controllers and the TV
I have the box which is in good condition
And the cardboard insert
The controllers detach from the console but are hardwired with what feels like good quality cables
The ten buttons to select the games available, not all cartridges feature ten games though, if a slot is selected which does not feature a game, the console will output a blank screen. Also here is the console power, sound on/off, and the three game option switches, and a reset button. Also shown is the cartridge slot which is protected by a spring loaded cover
The base of the unit has the model label and battery compartment
The controllers have the usual non centering analogue stick and a fire/serve button
The controller wire has to be pushed into this hole before the controller can be stored in the console, and there is a little ramp which stops the controller sliding forwards, but it doesn't stop it falling out if the console is turned upside down
The rear of the console has ports for external power, and two pistol/rifle attachments
Close up of the ports, there is embossed text underneath the socket to say what it's for
This is the cartridge that was included as standard
It has analogue paddle adjustments for each player, and features ten sports based games. It also shows what the three option switches do
There were more cartridges released which featured games such as Breakout and simple racing games, but using the straight white lines and square balls from the original Pong we all know and love
And finally the RF plug
