Blaze Atari
Retro TV Joystick

Another car boot sale find, this one I got for £2, It was under a table with a load of wires around it, I just thought it was a normal Atari CX40 controller from the original Atari 2600, but it wasn't until after I picked it up I discovered it was one of those plug and play retro TV controller games that were a thing for a while, so I offered the seller £2 which he accepted, and added it to the bag of other retro greatness I picked up that day

I could feel it had batteries in it, so I wasn't expecting much, but it seems to work fine, no battery leakage at all, which is nice

It looks like a normal CX40 controller, but the stick is really stiff and difficult to use, and for some reason Blaze thought it would be an excellent idea to put a fire button on top of the stick, but the whole stick acts as the fire button, so when you're fighting against the stiffness of the stick, pushing down on it will action the fire button, this is a stupid idea really

It takes four AA batteries, and the compartment is secured by a tiny screw that is not held in place by a captive washer, so it's too easy to drop it on the floor and lose it, ask me how I know!

The device has a Start, Reset, and Select buttons along with a on/off switch and a red power LED, the buttons are a bit easy to accidentally press while in use, as you have to hold the unit tightly in order to move the stick enough to register movement

It does come with eight feet of cable terminated with the usual RCA plugs, no stereo here though

Upon switching on, you get a couple of seconds of a black screen, then the boot logo, then straight into the menu

It does come with 50 games though, pushing up and down selects the game on the page, and pushing left or right changes the page, there are ten pages with five games each. Pushing fire or start will start the game

The games are...
3D Tic-Tac-Toe, Adventure, Air Sea Battle, Asteroids, Black Jack, Bowling, Breakout, Canyon Bomber, Casino, Centipede, Circus Attack, Crystal Castles, Demons to Diamonds, Desert Falcon, Dodge 'Em, Double Dunk, Fun With Numbers, Golf, Gravitar, Haunted House, Home Run, Human Cannonball, Maze Craze, Millipede, Miniature Golf, Missile Command, Night Driver, Off The Wall, Pong-Video Olympics, Quadrun, Rader Lock, Realsports Football, Realsports Tennis, Realsports Volleyball, Sprintmaster, Super Football, Steeplechase, Stellar Track, Street Racer, Submarine Commander, Super Baseball, Super Breakout, Swordquest: Earthworld, Swordquest: Fireworld, Swordquest: Waterworld, Tempest, Video Checkers, Video Chess, Video Pinball, Yar's Revenge

Reset will bring you back to the menu, there is no way to change the difficulty setting on this console, which was selected by a switch on the real 2600

Here is Yar's revenge in all it's emulated glory, yes I think this is another NOAC based emulation box
