Continuing my strange obsession with Prinztronic consoles, I have picked up another one, this is the Tournament 2 Deluxe from 1977 which uses the ubiquitous General Instruments AY-3-8500 Pong-on-a-chip
This console offers six games which are Target, Skeet, Squash (Practice), Squash, Football, and Tennis. The optional pistol is required for Target and Skeet
It came with the box which is in good condition
Look at this picture from the box, it's pure 1970's
And the polys
The console does look good
The console itself
The options you would expect are present, including auto/manual serve, speed, angle, and player bat size, with reset and serve buttons
The games are selected by a large dial in the centre of the console
And finally there are two manual score counters which keep track of who's won what during those long gaming sessions
The base of the unit is typical of the brand, with embossed patent text and model label. There is also the battery compartment and speaker
The battery compartment which takes six D cells and also contains a hole
Like other consoles this has a wedge shape
The rear of the console has the hardwired leads and sockets for the optional pistol and external power
The controllers are quite large and feature a dial to control the on-screen action
The RF plug which uses a rubber cover rather than a plastic or metal cover
