TV Play Power
Intellivision

Found this in Gamescene local to my parents, didn't know it existed, but had to have it

It's a generic controller shape with spongy feeling buttons, a horrible feeling D-Pad, two fire buttons labelled A and B, with "Turbo" rapid fire buttons labelled X and Y above them, select and start buttons, two pointless shoulder buttons, and a reset button which brings up the main menu

The battery compartment is secured by a screw

And a power switch

It just has video and mono audio for connecting to a TV

Time to break out the finest zinc chlorides available and fire this one up

Games wise there are ten games included, and they are...

Astrosmash, Night Stalker, Shark Shark, Snafu, Space Armada, Skiing, Motocross, Baseball, Football, Star Strike

And please ignore the Sinclair QL under the TV, that's not relevant here

I really wanted this to emulate the speech module add-on as well, but ho hum, also I never played Intellivision before, so I don't know if these were the best games available to put on a plug and play TV game, however it's obviously emulation, probably using Famiclone hardware like so many others of its time, it does a reasonable job though, but I don't have a reference to compare it to

Update, Intellivision #2

Picked this up for pennies with the Venturer hand-held TV game

Battery compartment with and without the finest zinc chlorides

Power switch just like above

First power up and nothing

Give it a shake and this screen appears, but none of the buttons work except the reset button

Power cycle, and it boots normally but the buttons are still unresponsive

Took a photo while it was showing a picture, for a brief moment the buttons did work and I could scroll through the games, which are the same as above, I can't tell if the buttons are not working, or it's frozen/crashed

Anyway, take it apart and have a look

Close up of some "interesting" things

It's evident it's had some sticky liquid poured over it, I tried cleaning it, but the wire from the PCB to the battery compartment decided to part company with the tab, and I didn't have any soldering equipment with me, so it's gone in to the "to be repaired" pile

?OUT OF MEMORY ERROR
