With all what's going on in the world right now, I've resisted the need to panic buy and stockpile essential goods, however with the inevitable lock down approaching I felt it was time to start, so here's one of the items I bought while everyone else was squabbling over toilet rolls I already have a Game Boy Color, but it's time to get the updated model, the original Game Boy Advance On the original Game Boy Advance, the model seen here, the screen is not backlit, and is quite difficult to see, even in good lighting. But apart from that, the console is quite lightweight and feels nice in the hand, which is good as you do need to hold it at angles you normally wouldn't just to see the screen properly The original Game Boy was a portrait shape with the controls under the screen, but the Advance is landscape with the controls either side, and now has shoulder buttons whereas the original didn't Like the Game Boy Pocket and Color the Advance runs on 2 AA batteries, however the battery terminals seem to be springs rather than the usual bent pieces of metal On the bottom there is the power switch, stereo headphone and volume control. On the top are the shoulder buttons, EXT connector used for multiplayer gaming etc, and the cartridge slot The Advance is backward compatible with the original Game Boy (and Color) cartridges, and like the Color you can select alternative color pallets for monochrome games, also you can use the shoulder buttons to stretch the screen Anyway, after installing new batteries, the Advance works fine Software I only have one Advance game at the moment Sonic Advance Update: Box I was donated an empty box for a Gameboy Advance, and it matches by box-less model The box from all sides Instruction books with various languages, and warning leaflet Promotional leaflet ?NEXT WITHOUT FOR ERROR
