I had been looking at an Amstrad CPC monitor for a while as I didn't get one when I picked up my CPC464, but hadn't found one that wasn't silly money...
And then one turned up being given away for free on FB Marketplace only a couple of streets away from home
The CPC range was sold with a dedicated monitor, either with a 12 inch green screen or 14 inch colour monitor, and for those users who were lumbered with the green screen monitor, Amstrad also provided a modulator so they could at least play games in colour on the family TV
This green screen monitor is the GT65, there was a GT64 version, the difference was the 12v socket on the front of the GT65 for powering the disk drives of the CPC664 and 6128, but would work with the CPC464. The GT64 didn't have this socket so was not compatible with the disk based machines
The tube size is twelve inches diagonally across with a green phosphor, and being a monochrome monitor there are only a few controls available, which are limited to a power switch, with Brightness, Contrast, and Vertical Hold dials under the screen
Connections include the 12v socket, and two leads to connect to the computer which are power and video. The 12v output was a socket because if the monitor was used with a CPC464, there wouldn't be a lead just left unconnected floating around possibly getting damaged. The CPC664 and 6128 had a cable that came out the computer to connect to it, and was left unconnected when used with the 464
The monitor itself is quite small and doesn't weigh very much
The cables are quite short although are coiled so can stretch a bit, and exit the monitor at the lower front
There are no other controls or sockets on the monitor, there is a power lead on the rear, this is the only plug needed as the monitor powers the computer. There are also handy cable storage hooks
The label on the rear
Mains cable with slightly damaged plug
The base of the monitor with serial number
The cats were quite interested in this monitor for some reason. The Itty-Bitty-Kitty-Investigating-Committee were in full operation that night. You can imagine the coversations they were having...
Hey Charlie, the hooman brought some more crap back, it smells funny
It does smell funny Rose, I wonder what it is
No idea, lets sleep on top of it, it feels right for a cat to do that
