Another Vinted find, I offered £10 to the seller which was accepted and I duly purchased it. However, InPost seemed to want to hold on to it for a while for no apparent reason, but it eventually arrived to my local locker
The Colourscore II was released in 1978 and is the follow-up to the original Colourscore, which I already have in the museum, the Colourscore II uses the popular AY-3-8500 Pong-on-a-chip whereas the original Colourscore had used the National Semiconductor MM-57105 chip, meaning a different experience for the second version
The console seems very similar to the Videomaster Sportsworld, which was an updated version of the Colourscore II
The time line for these three consoles are Colourscore > Colourscore II > Sportsworld
I did get the box, but it is in very poor condition, and has been sellotaped together
The console itself, very similar to the Sportsworld, which was a later version. This console has six games available which are Solo, Squash, Football, Tennis, and Aux 1 and 2 which are the shooting games and require the optional pistol accessory
The model label at the top left is missing and the console could do with a good clean
Other than the game selector, there are options for power, game speed and player bat size, there is also a reset button, and underneath the aux socket slider, is the socket for the pistol
The controllers sit in the case and are tilted backwards which works with the wedge design of the console, however they are not held in and will simply fall out if the console is tipped upside down
The base of the console with model label and battery compartment
The rear of the console has the RF lead and external power connector
As is common with other Pong consoles of the time the design is based on a wedge shape, although the controllers sit level due to being tilted backwards when sitting in the console
I didn't notice for the first photo, but a cable was sticking out the front of the console causing the top to bow upwards and the switch to be mis-aligned, although it didn't take much to pop the cable back in and straighten things out
And here is a shameless plug for the console
