Ian's Retro Museum
Retro Displays

A look at the CRT and LCD displays I have

Maybe you didn't have to wait until Coronation Street was finished before you could fire up Manic Miner

Some of us were lucky enough to have our own TV in our room, it may have been black and white with a set top aerial, but it was ours, and we had control of it

If you were posh, you had a colour set!

I started with a 19 inch Black and White TV with rotary tuning to use with a Binatone PONG console, then my Commodore Plus 4, before I upgraded to an old 22 inch colour set with a dodgy volume control.

My Spectrum and Amiga years was with a 14 inch remote control set until I got the Philips monitor

There are 14 TV's and monitors in the museum

Apple Cinema Display

Spotted this on FB Marketplace being given away for free, but it was just dumped outside the house, so I had to move quick to go get it. It looked like it'll be a perfect match for my Apple Power Mac G4, but there's a problem with that thought

Ferguson 3840

I spotted this at another local car boot sale for £7, and in a moment of madness I decided I had to have it as I have no black and white TV's from the era, this will be mainly used for all the ZX81 and Pong machines I have

My Old Televisions

Here are some old, and sadly long-gone CRT televisions of mine I have used for watching TV and playing games in the past, also known as the good old days

ADVERTISMENT BREAK!

Casio TV-100

I found my long lost pocket LCD TV, and it still works

Amstrad GT65

The official green screen monitor for the CPC 464, 664 and 6128, which was very interesting for some of the cats

Deccacolour Microsystem

An old TV which has some issues

ADVERTISMENT BREAK!

Dell VC5EN

The monitor that came with the Dell 433 s/l 486 PC

Ferguson FTC1410T

A recent donation to the museum, I haven't plugged it in yet although I was told it was fully working

The monitor that came with the Western Systems WS340 386 PC

ADVERTISMENT BREAK!

Philips CM8833-II

The monitor I used with my Amiga back in the day

Samsung CI5079Z

A 21" TV I was donated to repair during my TV servicing days

Toshiba 1480TB

A 14" TV I was donated during my TV servicing days

ADVERTISMENT BREAK!

IBM 9512

A tough little 12" LCD monitor that looks like a POS system monitor

Acer AL1913S

A 19" 4:3 LCD monitor I picked up with a job-lot of desktop PC's

The dark area

I hope you all find this as interesting and as nostalgic as I do.

And if you do, why not check out the next page in my retro museum... Handheld

Or to quicky jump to another room of the museum, click or tap on Rooms at the bottom of this screen

Special thanks to my long-suffering partner Denise for putting up with all this "nonsense".

No cats were unnecessarily annoyed during the creation of this site

Speaking of cats, did you see one here?
